SAMSUNG

Smart wearables aren't just watches anymore

Smart wearables can take many forms. Probably the most famous is the shape of smart bracelets and watches. However, there is also a category of smart rings. The Finn is at the top in this Oura Ring category, which still holds an unshakable position. But he may start to worry little by little, because one of the biggest tech giants – Samsung – is also preparing a smart ring.

According to ETNews, Samsung has already started working on a new device, namely a smart ring(image below). The claim is based on the fact that Samsung has started ordering parts and various sensor variants for the ring device.

From the ring, we can expect a classic series of health function measures, led by heart rate, blood oxygenation or blood pressure monitoring. It will likely include sleep tracking and physical activity.

Patente da Samsung

Samsung has many patents...Samsung's first patent, which hinted at the preparation of a smart ring, dates back to 2015. Since then, Samsung has updated its own patents every year, the last one from July this year. One of the most exciting patented features is the ring's ability to wirelessly control other electronic devices.

There's still more mystery than reality surrounding the Samsung ring. However, if Samsung combines all of the registered patents into one ring that will rule them all, then we certainly have something to look forward to. And the name “Samsung Galaxy Ring” sounds really cool too.
