Google announced a light version of Android 13 Go and talked about the main innovations of the platform - they were the updated Material You interface with dynamic coloring and system updates delivered directly through Google Play.
Material You's improved interface offers dynamic coloring of generated interface elements based on the wallpaper pattern - the user will have a choice of four automatically generated schemes. For comparison, the full version of Android offers 16 schemes. Google showed off the lock screen color palettes and quick settings curtain, and they are almost identical to the interface of the new Pixel phones.
Swiping right from the home screen now opens the Discover feed - the user is presented with a selection of articles and other content. From the full version of Android 13 to the lite edition, individual notifications and language settings for each app have also migrated.
Perhaps the most important innovation of Android 13 Go was the support for Google Play (Project Mainline) system updates - users of the platform will be able to receive the most important security updates directly through the app store. At the same time, the developer emphasizes that this function will not affect the amount of space available on the drive, and this goes for low-cost devices addressed to a lightweight version of the system.
Finally, Google has updated the system requirements for Android Go: starting with version 13, the minimum amount of RAM has been increased to 2GB. The company also boasted that today there are over 250 million monthly active devices running Android Go. The first gadgets with Android 13 Go will hit the market in 2023.
