Whatsapp add new function to verify authenticity of facts in messages

It has become known that a new function has appeared in the popular WhatsApp messenger, with the help that users will be able to check the accuracy of the facts stated in the messages sent frequently. This is an internal Internet search that can be used by clicking on the magnifying glass icon, which will appear next to messages sent by five or more users.
Using the magnifying glass icon, users will be able to quickly verify the reliability of a fact by reviewing the related information found on the Internet. The new resource was developed to combat the spread of disinformation and conspiracy theories. For example, after receiving a message about some means that can effectively combat coronavirus, the user can easily verify the reliability of this statement by contacting trusted sources.
The efforts of Facebook, the owner of WhatsApp, to control the spread of false information have been complicated by end-to-end encryption that prevents users from viewing messages. The new function will help users of the popular messenger to independently verify the accuracy of the information that arrives in the forwarded messages. The developers note that any information selected for verification is sent directly to the browser, so that Facebook does not have access to it.
WhatsApp is currently available for Android and iOS users in the US, UK, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Brazil and Mexico. When this function will be available to users in other countries, it is not yet known.
