Play Store will be without music from this month
Google continues to actively prepare for the closure of the Play Music service. She recently announced that the platform will cease operations in September in Australia and New Zealand. For the rest of the world, the Play Music service and the mobile app will end in October. From this moment on, users will no longer be able to transmit music through the application, as well as through the web version of the service.
Despite ending the service in October, the company is giving users the option to move all of their music collections to YouTube Music before December this year.
For a painless transition to the new platform, the company introduced a special Google Takeout tool in May this year. It will work even after the official closure of the Play Music service and the corresponding mobile app. If, for some reason, users decide not to transfer their music collection to the new platform, after December this year, all content will no longer be available to them and all previously purchased music compositions will be irretrievably lost. Therefore, the company encourages to rush with the migration to the new service.
In addition to the closure of the Play Music service, Google also announced the next changes related to the purchase of music in the Play Store online store. Google will remove all music from the store very soon, so it will no longer be possible to buy it there. At the same time, users will have the opportunity to purchase it through third-party sales channels and add it to their collection on the YouTube Music service. The exact date of the closure of the music store on the Google Play Store does not quote, but says that it will happen "at the end of August".
