Google Maps increases safety and alert passengers of unplanned deviations in car travel

Google is launching in India a new feature for Maps that aims to give passengers greater safety when traveling in TVDE vehicles, for example. It is an alert system that warns the user if the driver makes any significant detour from the route to the destination. The technology giant says that through extensive research in the country, it has found that many people limit their mobility because of security concerns.
This is how the Stay Safer functionality was born, so that passengers feel safe or even avoiding driver schemes that prolong travel in longer ways to receive a higher payment. When you search for a destination to get directions, you can turn on this new option and receive notifications when the car goes off course.
According to the technology, if the driver deviate more than half a kilometer from the route suggested by Google Maps, the phone will vibrate with the respective notification, showing the deviation compared to the correct route. From there you can even choose to share the journey of the trip live with friends and family directly from that screen, and know what is going on and take action if necessary.
For now the functionality is available only in India and Android devices, there is still information on when it will be expanded to other countries and iOS equipment. M. F.
