APPLE

iOS 26 will allow you to schedule alerts for missed calls on your iPhone

The next version of the iPhone operating system, iOS 26, will accompany the launch of the iPhone 17, but the beta version is already available for those who want to learn about its features. This is one of the most anticipated versions of the operating system, not only because of the redesign, with a visual language called Liquid Glass, but also because most of the system's applications will be improved, with new features and a user experience.

The Phone app is one of the apps that has been redesigned, introducing new features. Newly added is a reminder that helps users avoid returning missed calls. Imagine someone calls you one day and completely forgot to check your missed call log. Reminders to call back were introduced in iOS 26.

To use this feature, you'll need to have your device updated to iOS 26, where you'll see a card with key information about the missed call, such as the number, date, and other details. The system now has a blue button to add a reminder to return the call or a red one to delete the card.

You'll also have a separate Recents tab, where you can simply select the calls you missed from the list and swipe left. A new blue reminder button will appear, allowing you to set a time or period to be reminded of the missed call. This means there's no longer any reason to miss missed calls. You can set a one-time reminder, a quick one for the evening or the next day, or a custom time and date.

The reminder will appear at the top of the Phone app, in the appropriate section. According to Gizchina, this information will only appear if you're using the new unified layout. You can switch between layouts using the filter button in the top right corner. Apple has even expanded this type of reminder to the dedicated Reminders app, appearing in the Today tab. From the reminder, you can also make the call directly, without having to return to the Phone app.

Remember that the Phone app will have Apple Intelligence to help summarize calls, as well as a feature to block spam calls. There's also a function for calls that are placed on hold.

We already know which smartphones are compatible with iOS 26. Models released in 2018 (Phone XR, XS, and XS Max) are no longer compatible with the latest version of iOS. Although models released in 2018 are excluded from the list, Apple has committed to maintaining security updates for at least three years.
