Netflix now restricts password sharing worldwide

Video streaming service Netflix is doing what it has been promising for a long time. Android Authority Portal says password sharing ban now reaching all countries. Slovakia is no exception.

The streaming service has long tried to fight password sharing, which it tolerated for many years. However, she realized that this way the money was literally slipping through her fingers. Resourceful subscribers share family packs with other non-family members.

A password is shared between 5 people on average. Netflix has introduced a new system to prevent this practice. And it seems to be working. Although at first it did not seem very positive, since after this decision the service experienced a significant drop in the number of subscribers.

At the end of May, we reported on our website that Netflix started to restrict account sharing in the neighboring Czech Republic and it was only a matter of time before this happened in our country and in other countries. And now, according to the latest information, it is happening.

Users will be notified by email...Subscribers should receive an email informing them of the new rules. If you are one of those who also share your account, then you should definitely read this information. In larger markets like the US or Canada, Netflix offers compensation in the form of the ability to create a sub-account, which, while not free, is cheaper than the price of a standard subscription.

You should not neglect: However, this does not apply to small markets, such as Slovak. However, we have no officially confirmed information, but it is very unlikely that sub-accounts can also be used with us. But it is not excluded that this possibility will come to us later.

Netflix price in Slovakia and the closest competition

We remind you that the standard subscription price in Slovakia is € 7.99 per month for a basic package with HD resolution to € 11.99 per month for 4K playback. Our competition is mainly Disney+, HBO Max and SkyShowtime. VOYO and JOJ play with local players.
