WhatsApp is now available on Wear OS 3 smartwatches

Do you have a smartwatch that runs on Wear OS 3? Then we have good news, because from now on WhatsApp has an official app for smart watches.

WhatsApp for Wear OS 3 watches...The WhatsApp app for Wear OS smartwatches has been available to beta users for a while, but is now rolling out to the general public. The app only works on smartwatches with Wear OS 3 or higher. These are, for example, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 (Classic), Galaxy Watch 5 (Pro), Google Pixel Watch and Fossil Gen 6.

With the WhatsApp app you can read all your conversations, view new apps, start a chat and respond to messages. The latter can be done via a speaking memo, emoji, a so-called ‘quick reply‘ or you type a response on the screen of your watch. Also useful is that you can make WhatsApp phone calls with the new app.

In principle, the WhatsApp Wear OS app does about the same as the version on your smartphone. It is important to know that you can also respond to messages without having to have your phone at hand. Your smartwatch must have an LTE connection and not only support WiFi.

The WhatsApp app for Wear OS 3 is now rolling out to everyone. You get it by downloading and installing the latest version in the Play Store. As mentioned, keep in mind that your smartwatch must run on Wear OS 3 or newer. The app is unfortunately not available for older watches.
