SAMSUNG
Electronics giant accelerates production of QD-OLED panels
The company clearly wants to catch up with LG in the segment of displays aimed at TVs and monitors.
The first televisions and monitors with quantum dot OLED panels produced by Samsung Display were launched last year. The concern seems to be very satisfied with the results achieved, and there is, in fact, no sign of the project collapsing.
Already at the end of 2022, feeling the interest, the company decided to increase its production capacity by 30 percent compared to the forecast, and the South Korean says that this production rate is just the beginning, since the number of monitors manufactured will increase by fifty percent by 2024. 34-, 49-, 55-, 65- and 77-inch panels are scheduled to be available this year, with 27-, 42-, 83-, and 88-inch versions coming a year from now.
The concern is therefore visibly trying to expand its selection and thus reduce its lag in the area in question with respect to its great rival LG. There is no reason to complain about the image quality. In our experience, QD-OLED competes with the competing WOLED process and still performs even better in terms of brightness and color space coverage. The company also wants to maintain the advantage in this field, as the panels have already been modified for this year, thanks to which they can increase the brightness.
