FOSSIL

Fossil unveiled its new hybrid smartwatch, the Gen 6 Wellness Edition

CES 2023 in Las Vegas may not open until Thursday, January 5th, but that doesn't stop manufacturers from getting ahead in touting their innovations. This is the case of Fossil, which on Tuesday presented its new connected watch, the Fossil Gen 6 Hybrid Wellness Edition.

Behind this extended name, in fact, hides the latest hybrid watch from the American manufacturer, based on the design of the Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition released last October. However, unlike the display-connected watch released late last year, the Fossil Gen 6 Hybrid Wellness Edition is, as its name suggests, a hybrid watch. Concretely, like the Withings Scanwatch or the Garmin Instinct Crossover, it is a watch equipped with real physical hands that run across the dial to tell the time.

However, if the main innovation of the Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition came from the integration of Wear OS 3, this is not the case with this Fossil Gen 6 Hybrid Wellness Edition, since, like all hybrid models of the brand, it incorporates its own proprietary operating system . As a reminder, navigation is done using a 1.1-inch e-ink screen positioned behind the clock's hands and via three buttons on the right side of the case. Also note that the case here measures 44mm wide and 11.4mm thick and is made from stainless steel.

The watch is also capable of measuring your health and sports data with a built-in heart rate monitor, as well as pulse oximeter and VO2Max analysis. A special feature of this model compared to other hybrid versions of the Fossil Gen 6, it will allow, during exercises, to display a meter with the different heart rate zones.

Although the Fossil Gen 6 Hybrid Wellness Edition doesn't have Wear OS and therefore doesn't allow you to install third-party apps, it will be able to display your notifications, sync with your calendar, or allow you to control the music played on your Smartphone.

The Fossil Gen 6 Hybrid Wellness Edition will be available starting January 5th at an as-yet-unannounced price.
