iPhone 14 crash detection helps man find his wife after serious traffic accident
The presentation of the new line of iPhone 14 revealed big surprises like satellite emergency calls and the accident detection function. Two innovations clearly focused on saving lives.
From Apple, they are happy to know that their latest generations of Apple Watch are able to save the lives of their users through their health monitoring and fall detection features and they want to extrapolate these features to their new iPhone 14 models
A woman was recently in a serious car accident and her husband was able to locate him thanks to the accident detection function of the iPhone 14. This was explained by a user with the name “unclescorpion” on Reddit after what happened.
Apparently, the woman was unable to alert emergency services or her husband because she was incapacitated. But the crash detection functionality took care of everything. She not only automatically alerted rescue services, but also sent her husband a notice of the accident and pinpointing the exact location.
“Earlier today, I was talking to my wife on the phone as she was walking home from the store, I heard her scream and the line went dead.”
The man mentioned that after just a few seconds passed he got a notification Sent from his wife's iPhone stating that he had been in a car accident and showing his location. When telling what happened, he ran to the scene and arrived even before the ambulance.
He also wanted to check if a distracted driver crossed the road line and hit his wife's vehicle. Fortunately, the two affected by the accident are doing well and are currently in the process of recovery.
For this reason, it is extremely important to configure emergency contacts on the iPhone in order to avoid unexpected scares or, simply, to have extraordinary help in this type of emergency.
It's not the first time that this feature has saved an Apple user's life. Without going any further, a couple of months ago, an Apple Watch user managed to alert emergency services with accident detection after suffering a collision with his car after one of his tires burst.
