Microsoft is preparing to launch the Teams Premium service, which has received new features based on artificial intelligence algorithms. The biggest addition to the platform was the ability to compile a summary of online meetings - in fact, users will be provided with AI virtual assistants to automatically "capture" all the significant parts of the conversation - the assistant will record the most important ones even if the user doesn't is in the workplace.
According to a Microsoft Teams representative, after the meeting, the user can get a full recording and text transcript of the conversation, but it can take a long time to sort out important information related to the user. A new feature allows you to split a meeting into "smart chapters".
The idea is to “compress” a 40-minute meeting in which the user hardly participated, to, for example, 10 minutes - fragments are annotated where his name was mentioned, or someone shared his screen. If the user had to leave the meeting early, you can return later to the moment they missed.
In addition, Microsoft Teams Premium will enable much-requested real-time translation with AI in 40 languages, automatically translating voice into understandable text, allowing multinational teams to communicate seamlessly. This is especially useful for international companies with a large number of remote employees who speak different languages.
Also, the security level has been increased in the Premium version. Similar to the DRM protection already used for Office documents, meetings in Teams have additional protection for conversations. In particular, it provides for the addition of watermarks and the ability to customize who exactly has the right to record conversations.
There will be a number of other features, including meeting settings templates for IT admins that allow you to automatically enforce restrictions based on conversation types.
Outside the Premium version, there will also be news. For example, Excel Live will allow meeting participants to edit Excel documents directly in Teams. Together Mode will also have a new feature that allows presentation organizers to “assign seats” to participants on the screen.
Finally, AI-recommended replies will appear, making it easier to reply to messages in Teams or notify groups of people. It will be possible to schedule the sending of messages, for example, so as not to disturb recipients first thing in the morning.
All enhancements complement the collaboration between Microsoft and Cisco. The Cisco Teams-certified range of devices will launch in the first half of 2023. In particular, Cisco sells a number of Webex video conferencing equipment.
It is known that, in addition, Microsoft has announced the beginning of a large-scale cooperation with Meta - the Teams service will appear on the Quest headphones, and the avatar system will be integrated into Microsoft's software. In addition, Microsoft is already testing its own avatar system on a limited group of users.
Teams Premium subscription pricing will be announced at a later date. The new features will begin rolling out in December as part of the Teams Premium public preview demo, with the full service launch scheduled for February 2023.
