Rússia agora considera Meta (Facebook, Instagram e WhatsApp) uma organização terrorista

Russian dictatorial government considers Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp a terrorist organization

After invading Ukraine, the world began its various sanctions against Russia, which now seems not to be worried about it, as many of its steps seem to lead it to want to be isolated from the rest of the world.

The truth is that since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict, Putin's government has been waging a second parallel war, directed against the American technology giants. Google has since been forced to file for bankruptcy in that country, while Wikipedia faces censorship threats. The objective is quite clear: Russia wants to control the information that circulates around its martial policy.

While large population movements have left the territory since the announcement of the partial mobilization of the inhabitants, Russia today wants to be even more severe with Meta, the company that opposes large social networks such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram.

Mark Zuckerberg's group was already in the government's crosshairs, and the government has accused him in particular of advertising for LGBT communities. Today, the company has joined an ambiguous list, to say the least: that of extremist terrorists.

This is what the AFP tells us, which was able to consult a database of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service, which therefore lists organizations considered dangerous for the country's security. Last March, Facebook had already dealt with Russian authorities, who then gave their verdict on designating the social network as a terrorist.

It seems, therefore, that the thing is now official and that Meta, and its respective social networks, will be permanently banned from Russian territory. It is still difficult to predict the impact this will have on the company's activities. The same goes for the Kremlin's propaganda activities, which actively use Facebook to spread fake news across the web.
