Canonical has announced the start of beta testing of the free version of the Ubuntu Pro Extended Updates service. The offer is open to individuals and small businesses. As part of Ubuntu Pro's free subscription option, updates can be delivered to up to five computers.

Ubuntu Pro is available for Ubuntu LTS operating systems starting with version 16.04 LTS. It covers fixes for critical and important vulnerabilities, as well as some medium-severity bugs. In most cases, updates are installed automatically. In addition, a Canonical Livepatch tool is available that allows you to apply Linux kernel updates without having to restart your computer.

Ubuntu Pro's extended upgrade program now covers thousands of packages and applications, including Ansible, Apache Tomcat, Apache Zookeeper, Docker, Drupal, Nagios, Node.js, phpMyAdmin, Puppet, PowerDNS, Python 2, Redis, Rust, WordPress and much more For large enterprise customers are available for a 30 day free trial of Ubuntu Pro.
