As baterias incham com mais frequência em smartphones Samsung mais antigos

Blogger discovers battery swelling of old Samsung models

As smartphones age, batteries age too. While manufacturers have made significant strides in combating this issue in recent years, Samsung doesn't seem to be doing too well. A well-known blogger with a large collection of smartphones discovered massive battery swelling in the company's older models.

In a video of it, the owner of the Mrwhosetheboss YouTube channel, Arun Maini, spoke in detail about the problem. It is worth noting that the blogger's collection contains literally dozens of smartphones from different years of release, so he had the opportunity to compare with the “behavior” of models from other manufacturers. Battery swelling has been found to be observed at least on models from Galaxy S6 (2015) to Galaxy S10 (2019).

At first, the blogger thought that the cause of the swelling was the abnormal heat that prevailed in the London summer. However, he later noticed that the batteries in older iPhones, Pixels, and ASUS were pretty good when stored in similar conditions.

Shortly after Arun spoke about the problem on Twitter, Samsung representatives contacted him and took the devices in for examination. Two months later, no information has been received from the company yet.

Meanwhile, Arun received confirmation of the problem from the popular YouTube channel This Is, which also has a large collection of smartphones in addition to regular users. The issue is reported to affect literally all models released before the Galaxy S20.

According to reports, we are mainly talking about copies that have not been used for a long time. Older smartphones that are used regularly seem to still work. It is worth remembering that in no case should you try to charge swollen batteries due to the high risk of fire - the battery manufacturers themselves warn about this.
