The first beta of the Android 13 quarterly update revealed the Clear Calling feature - it is designed to "reduce background noise during calls". The corresponding item in the phone's sound settings was discovered by Twitter user Mishaal Rahman.
The Android New Features Researcher shared screenshots of his findings. Clear Calling, according to Google, works on most mobile networks, but is not available for Wi-Fi calling. In addition, the company has ensured that the recording of calls is not sent to its resources.
Google is digging deeper and deeper into active noise canceling (ANC) tasks, and so far it has managed to achieve significant success here - which is worth, for example, the 6-core chip installed for this purpose in the Pixel Buds headphones. Pro TWS , which became the first product in the line of companies that offered such opportunities. The function has also been implemented in the Google Meet service, which, through an artificial intelligence algorithm, removes all extraneous sounds from the sound track: the rustling of lunch bags, keyboard sounds and even dog barking.
The Pixel Buds Pro's implementation of ANC has been called "more than competent" by some experts, according to The Verge, so it's possible that the "clean calls" for the full rollout of the feature on Android will show its best side.
