Canon has unveiled its latest 27-inch 4K HDR professional reference monitor that sits between the existing DP-V3120 and DP-V2411 models.
The Canon DP-V2730 monitor is positioned as an on-set monitoring tool and a professional post-production tool.
This widescreen display features a 4K UHD panel with a maximum full-screen brightness of 1000 nits. As the black level can be as low as 0.001 nits when using local dimming, the display must have a large dynamic range to properly monitor HDR signals, so the DP-V2730 is Dolby Vision certified and complies with EBU TECH3220 Grade1A standards.
Of course, the Canon DP-V2730 is equipped with a full suite of monitoring tools, including waveform, histogram and more. The device has one HDMI input and up to nine 12G-SDI connections (4x in, 5x out) supporting high quality 4K 60fps 4:2:2 10-bit or 4K 30fps 4:4:4 12-bit high quality signals.
Finally, Canon will offer several paid upgrades to the Canon DP-V2730 in the near future, unlocking additional features. This includes the ability to use the Remote Control web interface to remotely monitor an image and gain control over display settings and tools using a laptop or smart device. Another paid upgrade will provide access to the 4-way switching function of SDI inputs.
The new DP-V2730 display costs $18,999.
Let me also remind you that Lilliput introduced the Lilliput Q28 28″ 12G-SDI professional studio monitor - a cheap, feature-rich display with a resolution of 3840 × 2160 and a declared brightness of 300 nits.
