Pixel line may have fingerprint scanner in combination with facial recognition unlocking the gadget
According to online sources, Google continues to work on facial recognition on its smartphones, including the Pixel 6 and the upcoming Pixel 7. According to reports, the developers intend to use the fingerprint scanner in combination with facial recognition to implement the ability to unlock devices.
Previously, it was reported that the Pixel 6 Pro smartphone was supposed to receive a face unlock function at the start of sales last fall. However, for some reason, the developers refused to integrate the smartphone's face unlock function. It is assumed that such a decision was made due to problems with recognition accuracy and low energy efficiency.
Now, it's been reported that Google is continuing to work on a face unlock feature that will pair with the fingerprint scanner built into the screen area of the new Pixel smartphones. The function works by lowering the fingerprint scanner recognition threshold when the smartphone partially recognizes the user's face using the camera. Interestingly, Face and Fingerprint Unlock can be implemented not only on the Pixel 6 Pro, but also on the more budget Pixel 6, as well as the next ones.
