HP

The brand has an interesting proposition for gaming laptops

Building a gaming desktop computer is now extremely difficult – due to scarcity, the same video cards are sold at an extremely high price. A great alternative can be a gaming notebook, as modern models are practically no inferior to desktop systems in terms of performance and, moreover, they can be taken with you wherever you go. HP offers a variety of gaming laptops, one of which, the OMEN 15 (ek1017ur), will be covered in more detail in this article.

The latest generation OMEN 15 notebooks, which include the model in question, are very compact for a gaming notebook. They have very thin bezels around the display and the body itself has a small thickness of 22.9 mm. At the same time, a truly productive electronic stuff is located inside, which is complemented by a high-quality, high-frequency display. An attractive, laconic design completes the picture. For many, this can be an advantage, as many gaming laptops offer unusual and attractive designs. That's not here, and that's good.

HP is equipping OMEN notebooks with 15 15.6-inch monitors. This OMEN 15-ek1017ur is equipped with an IPS panel with Full HD resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels), 144Hz refresh rate, 7ms response time, 300cd / m2 brightness and 72% NTSC color space coverage .

The OMEN 15-ek1017ur notebook is based on the powerful Intel Core i7-10750H processor. This chip has six cores that are capable of running twelve threads. The chip's base frequency is 2.6 GHz, while the maximum turbo frequency for a single core reaches 5.0 GHz. Impressive for a laptop.

The powerful processor is also accompanied by a highly productive discrete NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. It is built on the latest Ampere GA106 graphics processor, which features 3840 CUDA cores. It is complemented by 6 GB of GDDR6 RAM with a 256-bit bus. The graphics card supports real-time ray tracking and is capable of providing a really high level of performance in modern games.

The laptop carries 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, which operates at an effective frequency of 2,933 MHz in dual channel mode. It supports installation of up to 32 GB of memory, so that, if desired, the user can upgrade. For data storage, a 1TB high-speed PCIe NVMe M.2 solid state drive is offered. The unit is built in TLC flash memory.

The OMEN 15 is powered by a 70.9 Wh rechargeable battery that provides up to 8 hours and 30 minutes of battery life, according to the manufacturer. Includes a 200W power adapter that provides fast charging – 50% battery life in just 45 minutes. By the way, despite the large battery, the laptop weighs 2.45 kg. And its dimensions are 35.79 × 23. 97 × 2.29 cm.

HP notebook PCs have always been known for their rich selection of ports and the OMEN 15 is no exception. On the sides of the device there are: one USB Type C (10 Gb / s) with support for the Thunderbolt 3 interface (40 Gb / s), three USB Type A ports (5 Gb / s), one Mini DisplayPort and one output HDMI 2.1 video, Gigabit Ethernet port, 3.5mm universal audio connector and SD card slot. The set of wireless interfaces includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5, implemented using the Intel AX201 module.
