A14 Bionic chip appears for the first time
As the launch of each new iPhone model approaches, there are many rumors and leaks on the Web that reveal the features of the promising device. This also applies to the iPhone 12 series, due this fall. Today, a reputable source hidden under the nickname Mr-white posted on Twitter a photo of Apple's A14 Bionic chips, which are said to form the basis of the California tech giant's new smartphones.
Mr-white has repeatedly published confirmation information about future Apple devices, so that the information received from him is credible. Adding confidence to the veracity of the photo of the A14 Bionic chips is the fact that a few days ago, TSMC announced that it is currently producing 5 nm chips for a device that is due out in the fall. This is probably just about the iPhone 12.
Currently, the most productive mobile processors on the market are the Apple A13 Bionic and Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, manufactured using 7 nm process technology. Reducing lithography can make the new chip faster, more compact and more energy efficient, which is expected of the Apple A14.
TSMC itself claims that the new processor is about 15% faster and uses 30% less energy than current 7 nm models. This will provide better autonomy and greater performance for the device equipped with it.
The huge advantage of Apple's approach is that the new processor is likely to be installed on all new iPhone models, from the relatively economical 5.4-inch iPhone 12 to the flagship 6.8-inch smartphone. In March, test results for the Apple A14 were reportedly found on GeekBench. Then the processor scored 4612 points, while the A12X chip installed in the current generation of the iPad Pro gains 4568 points in the same test. If these performance estimates are confirmed, the performance of the new chip will significantly outperform the Snapdragon 865, which scores approximately 3517 points.
The real features of the Apple A14 can be impressed in a few months, when the iPhone 12 goes on sale.
