Android 11 for smart watches

The most important form factor that uses the Android platform is smartphones, as evidenced by the annual launch of a new version of the operating system for devices in this category. Now, it has become known that Google could launch a major update this year for Wear OS, the software platform used on portable devices such as smart watches.
Google developers confirmed the update by answering questions from users on the Reddit platform. Remember: the last major update to the Wear OS platform occurred in November 2018, when the System Version H package was released. Based on Android 10 released last year, Wear OS updates were not released. It looks like this year Google will release a major update for this operating system, which will be based on Android 11.
"You are certain that the current version of Wear OS is based on Android 9, so you cannot use all the Android 11 APIs yet, but we are working on it," wrote the Android developers in response to a question about the development of the Wear OS. In addition, it was noted that Google is "very enthusiastic about wearable technologies" and devotes enough time to its development. This is especially true for smart watches and fitness trackers.
In addition to "we're working on it", one of the other answers to the questions said that developers "will be able to access many Android APIs as soon as Wear OS receives an update based on Android 11".
