The Pixel 4A 5G and Pixel 5 may sport the same SoC; Pixel 5 XL release in doubt

New information has surfaced, indicating that Google is working on an entirely new phone that will be called the Pixel 4A 5G, with codename "Bramble". This, of course, opens up the possibility of the Pixel 4A 5G and Pixel 5G both using the same SoC.
The Google Pixel 4A has been in the news for months now, with the phone's release having been delayed a number of times. It would appear however, that Google may actually have tow Pixel 4A phone on the way.
Going by code discovered in the latest beta build of the Google Search app, it appears Google is working on another mid-range phone, which will be branded as the Pixel 4A 5G, with codename "bramble".  The Pixel 4A 5G will join the regular Pixel 4A (Sunfish) and the Pixel 5 (Redfin) as Google's offerings for 2020.

The existence of the Pixel 4A 5G raises a few questions, of course. Most important being the SoC Google will pair it with. Information so far leans towards the Pixel 5 using a Snapdragon 700-series chipset, with the Snapdragon 765G being the most likely option. Unless Google chooses to go the MediaTek route with the Pixel 4A 5G, it stands to reason that it will also use a Snapdragon 765G on the mid-range 5G phone. There's a chance both the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4A 5G sport the same SoC.
It's also interesting that the app makes no reference to a Pixel 5 XL. It's possible Google ditches the larger flagship phone this year.
