Ikea launches curtains to purify the air of your home

Ikea wants to play a more relevant role in the way you enjoy your home. More than the furniture it produces, the Swedish company wants to bet on technology that makes the lives of its customers more pleasant and healthy. This is the goal that led to the creation of the Gunrid curtains, which help purify the air in your home.

FastCompany tells that the curtains were created from a material that, when exposed to natural or artificial light, is capable of destroying odors and even formaldehyde. This compound present in industrial resins is of particular concern since it has carcinogenic properties. The effectiveness of Gunrid curtains has already been verified in laboratory tests, and the next step will be to test them in homes.

"We wanted to create a simple, convenient and affordable way to clean the air that did not take up too much space in people's homes. We were also curious to create a multifunctional product that would help eliminate many of the air pollutants that most cleansers leave behind, "said one of Ikea's product development managers in Sweden, Mauricio Affonso.
