Siemens-Gamesa launches 10MW offshore wind turbine
Spanish giant Gamesa Renewable Energy unveiled its new 10MW offshore wind turbine!
The launch of this new version of offshore turbines, will make the energy production in wind turbines increase about 30%, leading the company to market leader!
As technical characteristics, each turbine is expected to be able to generate enough electricity to feed 10,000 European households.
That is, if we are talking about a marine wind farm with 20 wind turbines, it can feed the annual needs of a city the size of Lisbon alone!
Markus Tacke, CEO of Siemens Gamesa, spoke about this new turbine. "The new SG 10.0-193 DD combines experiences and knowledge from five generations of proven direct drive technology in a 10 MW turbine. Strong performance, rapid lead-time in the market and low risk in the offshore wind energy market. "
The increase in production is possible due to the larger diameter of the generator. This wind turbine, larger than the current ones, will feed an area of 29 300 m². it is only in 2022 that this turbine will be produced in series.
The fact that it has a direct drive platform will allow the reuse of most of the components of previous generations of turbines, which will reduce the time to market this version.
The first prototype is expected to be installed during the year 2019, with commercial implementation expected to begin in 2022.
Andreas Nauen explained the company's plan "Siemens Gamesa has been applying its knowledge and experience directly to offshore wind turbines for decades. The use of proven components and concepts provides us with a strong and established value chain, with clear processes and skilled employees ready to be used, leveraged in a fully developed and industrialized supply chain.Siemens launches 10MW offshore wind turbine
