Taylor Swift used facial recognition to identify stalkers
If you think that only China is using facial recognition for security purposes then you should be disillusioned, since this surveillance measure was also employed this year in at least one Taylor Swift concert.
The concert in question was held at a Los Angeles stadium in May, with the facial recognition system being used to identify stalkers previously identified by the US artist's team. Apparently, those present at the concert were involuntarily subject to the system in question while watching, in a small kiosk, videos of Taylor Swift's essays.
The filming was then sent in real time to a specially-placed team to check if someone identified as a harasser was among those present at the concert. "Everybody who passed by [the kiosk] would stop and watch, and the software starts working," stadium security official Michael Downing told Rolling Stone. Miguel Dias
