Queen have the most heard streaming music of the twentieth century
The Universal Music Group this week released data from streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube, revealing that the iconic Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' theme has been played 1.6 billion times around the world.
This makes the classic 1975 theme the most played back in streaming services of the twentieth century. As noted by Digital Trends, the recent 'Bohemian Rhapsody' movie should have helped boost numbers and beat Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', which now ranks second with more than 1.5 billion reproductions in streaming services.
"'Bohemian Rhapsody' is one of the biggest songs of one of the greatest bands in history. We are very proud to represent the Queen and enthusiastic to see that music still inspires new fans around the world more than four decades after the release, "read the statement shared by Universal Music Group CEO Sir Lucian Grainge.
