SONY

The PlayStation 5 is closer than you think

The previous week, Sony announced that it will not attend E3 2019, the world's largest video game expo. Not a minor issue, PlayStation had attended every year since the first edition in 1995. To this surprising news is added another previously revealed: will not celebrate PlayStation Experience in December. What are the causes of these decisions? Although some believe that this is a negative moment for the Japanese company, the reality is that they are already focused on their next generation console: the PlayStation 5.Analyzing the upcoming PS4, there are only five major exclusive releases: Days Gone, The Last of Us Part II, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima and Dreams. The reality is that the titles mentioned will end the life cycle of the console, no more games will be released. Given the above, it did not make sense to hold two events to teach the same video games they have shown since 2016.The latest PlayStation presentations have left much to be desired, mainly due to the lack of new content. It was very risky to expose to more criticism by the same situation. Not that Sony has exhausted their ideas or have problems with internal studies, what happens is that many of them are already working on developments for the PlayStation 5. Of course, they can not reveal them without first presenting the console. After the great closing of the PS3 and the resounding success of the PS4, the company already has clear the way to succeed: launching a lot of exclusive games of high quality. That is a goal that is not achieved in the blink of an eye, Sony can not wait for the current console to end its cycle and then think about what follows.According to the statement from the PlayStation itself, they are currently "looking for original opportunities to connect with the community in 2019", but also made clear that they will not hold any conference close to E3. "PlayStation fans mean everything to us and we are always looking to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight players," they added.

Jason Schreier, editor of Kotaku, said the previous week that according to various sources the PS5 will be launched in 2020, which coincides with other rumors surfaced in previous months. If it is met, it is likely that Sony will end up organizing a major event next year, as happened with the PS4 and its presentation in New York (2013).The wave of rumors and speculation is not over. A user of Reddit (RuthenicCookie) reported that the PS5 will have a "discreet" introduction in the middle of 2019, and will be up to PlayStation Experience the same year when they celebrate a great presentation. The console, priced at $ 500, would integrate the 8-core AMD Ryzen CPU, providing 4K resolution and 60 frames per second without losing stability. He also mentioned that most third-parties already have the development kits.According to RuthenicCookie, the PlayStation VR 2 is on its way with very interesting news. They will reduce the weight of the glasses significantly, have an integrated camera and include gloves to improve the gaming experience. What credibility does this person have? It anticipated the announcement of PlayStation (on the E3) one day before it happened, among other information correct. "Sony is preparing hard for the PS5 and that's one of the reasons they will not be attending E3. They have already revealed all their news this year and have nothing new to show in 2019," he concluded.
At the moment it is best to take this information calmly and wait for an official confirmation, but everything is settling to know the PlayStation 5. In the coming months we will see an avalanche of rumors, both Sony and Microsoft. Those of Redmond already confirmed that work in a new console Xbox, nevertheless, they must rethink its strategy of launches to avoid a limited catalog.
