Painéis flexíveis da Samsung pretendem acabar com ecrãs partidos nos smartphones
Flexible panels from brand aim to wipe out split screens on smartphones

Samsung has announced that its flexible screen technology designed to make "shatterproof" smartphones has received the required certification from Underwriters Laboratories, a company that processes tests for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) at work in the United States. The manufacturer says that its new display, besides being able to be used in its next mobile phones, can find other markets for electronic products, such as car dashboards, military devices, portable consoles and even tablets. The new flexible OLED panel is based on an unbreakable substrate, but instead of being covered by a glass that serves as a window for the display, which is constantly part, has a layer of fortified plastic. The material gives the devices unbreakable properties, in addition to being light and with glass-like characteristics.Samsung said the screens were subjected to rigorous real-time durability testing based on military rules set by the US Department of Defense. Among the tests, the devices were dropped to 1.2 meters from the ground for 26 times successively and exposed to temperatures between 71 degrees and 32 degrees negative.
The unbreakable panel continued to work normally, without any damage, either at the front, or at the sides or corners, says Samsung, who even pulled the tests further, launching it at 1.8 meters in height, also without being damaged.
