DIGITAL LIFE

Dark Souls Remaster: High Resolution and 60 FPS

It's been nearly 7 years since Dark Souls was released and it redefined a whole generation of games that were more concerned with displaying realistic graphics rather than making the player really take over. With gameplay modeled after nearly two years by the phenomenon of Demon's Souls, considered as its "spiritual predecessor," Dark Souls came to establish the formula that served as the basis for most of the games that today we insist on naming " style Dark Souls ".After rendering the sequences Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3, this without taking into account the different versions with DLCs of the respective iterations of the franchise, and of being crucial for the emergence of new intellectual properties of great success, like Bloodborne, of the own From Software , we are finally faced with a revitalization of the first game of the series in Dark Souls: Remastered, title that we will speak in this analysis.

The "Dark Souls phenomenon"
If you have never had any direct contact with any game or even the titles that base the series Dark Souls, it is important to know that the game has as its main foundations its high difficulty, the system of progression of levels through the collection of souls and emergent narrative, which is almost never transmitted in its fullness only with the simple exploration of the scene and dialogues with characters. These elements, coupled with a design of levels very close to what we can call impeccable, bring an extremely addictive and challenging experience that encourages exploration to the fullest and which requires mastery of all the mechanics addressed in its initial tutorials. In them, we are constantly challenged to go further and invest our soul points with great caution before we face the next area or the next boss.

After all, what's new?
Dark Souls: Remastered is almost the same game of 2011, offering the same enemies, bosses, types of classes, equipment and weapons. This also applies to the menus and interfaces of the title, which follow with no air of novelty. However, this caveat is not a negative point, after all we are talking about a remastering and not a remake. Like the Prepare To Die edition, remastering also comes with all the contents of the DLC Artorias of the Abyss. The most significant differences, which impress with the result obtained, are in graphical and performance aspects. The visual refresh work is able to keep all the unique personality of the Dark Souls ambiance with a superior level of detail that will make many fans of the series come to mind the arduous journey through the decadent and medieval scenarios of the game.More directly, all this caprice can be noticed in buildings, which are very well represented with more realistic textures; in rendering special effects like smoke, fire effects (yes, we have more realistic bonfires) and magic conjurations; and also in the most dynamic and fluid lighting system.
On the other hand, it is not possible to ignore some "technical fences", that are not present in all the scenarios, but in punctual parts of the game. In this case, you can notice 3D models with primitive shapes and a reflection simulation of the light often exaggerated, causing some elements of the environment to gain a strange plastic appearance.
Dark Souls Remastered also has some advantages over previous editions, with dedicated servers for each console, maximum number of players per session increased. In terms of multiplayer matches, which promote both combat between players and calls of other warriors in cooperative mode, from 4 to 6, and matching system according to the host level and possibility of restricting access to lobbies with specific requirements.
