SAMSUNG

Galaxy Z Fold 7 will have important improvements, but ignores crucial detail

Samsung is about to introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and although the new model brings several improvements over the Fold 6, there is one absence that may disappoint many users: the battery. The latest leaks reveal an extensive list of updates, but the power capacity remains, by all accounts, unchanged.

According to the latest data released by well-known sources in the technology world, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will feature a new 200 MP main camera, which represents a significant leap over the previous model. This sensor could put Samsung's foldable on the same level as the best photography smartphones on the market.

In terms of design, the device will be thinner — just 4.5 mm when opened — and will have a body that is more resistant to water and dust. Structural improvements also include a more discreet internal crease and a more robust screen, thanks to the introduction of new protective layers. Additionally, Samsung has opted for a new cooling system with a larger vapor chamber.

Another significant new feature is the increase in screen size. The internal panel should be 8 inches, while the external one will reach 6.5 inches, which provides an even more immersive visual experience. To support all these changes, the new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor for Galaxy promises faster and more efficient performance.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will also come equipped with an improved version of the under-screen camera and optimized speakers, accompanied by a more precise vibration motor, contributing to a more immersive multimedia experience.

There is, however, some uncertainty regarding the operating system that will accompany the device at launch. Although there is talk of the launch of One UI 8, Samsung is still in the distribution phase of One UI 7, which raises doubts about whether the new version will be sufficiently developed in time for the arrival of the Fold 7 on the market.

Even though the Fold 7 and its more compact “sibling”, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, receive One UI 8 out of the box, it is unlikely that this update will be available for other devices before the end of the year.

Battery remains the weakest link...Despite improvements in practically every aspect of the device, the lack of new features in the battery raises concerns. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a 4,400 mAh battery, and everything indicates that the Fold 7 will maintain this same capacity. For a device with larger screens and more power, this could pose a challenge in autonomy.

The official launch is scheduled for the summer, probably at an event where the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will also be presented. Until then, more details are expected to be revealed, either officially or through new leaks. One thing is for sure: Samsung is committed to maintaining its leadership in the foldable segment — even if this time, the focus isn't on power.
