Galaxy S25 Edge: what to expect?

The launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge appears to be imminent, following certification by the American FCC. This news suggests that Samsung's new smartphone could hit the market in the coming weeks, marking an important moment in the South Korean company's launch strategy.

Certification by the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is a crucial step for any electronic device that intends to be sold in the country. The Galaxy S25 Edge has now been officially listed in the FCC database under three distinct model numbers:

SM-S937U

SM-S937U1

SM-S937B/DS

It's interesting to note that the “B” version is likely intended for global markets, while the “DS” designation indicates dual SIM support. While the FCC doesn't reveal specs or images at this stage, such a filing is usually a clear sign that a launch is imminent.

According to information that has been circulating, Samsung may reveal the device on April 16th. Interestingly, the company doesn't appear to be planning a grand event for this purpose. Similar to its Galaxy S FE models, Samsung could opt for a low-key launch via its website and social media platforms.

While not part of the main Galaxy S series, the S25 Edge has garnered interest as an experimental addition to Samsung's lineup. It is expected to feature a super-slim 5.84mm profile, potentially making it the thinnest Galaxy device ever released.

This ultra-thin design puts the S25 Edge in an interesting position in the market:

-Slightly thicker than the rumored iPhone 17 Air

-Possibly avoiding the tradeoffs that typically come with ultra-thin form factors

With the launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge seemingly just around the corner, this sleek and unconventional smartphone could appeal to those looking for something bold and different in the Galaxy ecosystem.

Its slim design and innovative design promise to mark a new chapter in Samsung’s history, demonstrating the company’s ability to continue to surprise even in a market as competitive as the smartphone market.
