iPhone 17: First stage of production tipped for move to India
Apple typically converts the prototypes for its next-gen iPhones into production models in facilities located in China. However, that might not be the case as of the upcoming 2025 17 series, as some of this work is reportedly making its way to India instead. The change is thought to affect the successor to the iPhone 16.
Apple's manufacturing process for its high-end mobile devices goes through a number of stages, the first of which involves turning its latest working prototypes into handsets that can be assembled at scale. Known as New Production Introduction, it is an important part of the iPhone life-cycle - internally, at least.
New Production Introduction most often takes place in China - however, the Cupertino giant reportedly has other plans for the manufacture of the successors to the current 16-series line-up.
The electronics behemoth apparently wants to start the stage at plants in India instead, an alternative center of manufacturing in which iPhones are already put together at different stages of the process. Accordingly, it seems Apple wants to diversify its production capacity as well as its supply of components.
Should that be the case, the changes might be introduced gradually as of 2025. New Production Introduction will be completed in India for the base-model iPhone 17, and not its rumored Air, Pro and Pro Max siblings.
Nokia 108 4G (2024) and Nokia 125 4G (2024) announced with classic designs and Snake
HMD Global has introduced another batch of Nokia feature phones. This time, the company has offered up the Nokia 108 4G (2024) and Nokia 125 4G (2024), which offer decent battery life, online features and Snake.
HMD Global has expanded its Nokia feature phone lineup with another two new models. To recap, the company introduced the Nokia 110 4G (2024) earlier this week. Now, it has presented new versions of the Nokia 108 4G and Nokia 125 4G, which also gain '(2024)' suffixes.
While HMD Global suggests that the Nokia 125 4G (2024) is a new device, that is not really the case. Instead, it and the Nokia 110 4G (2024) share the same features. Thus, please see our Nokia 110 4G (2024) launch article for more information in this regard.
By contrast, the Nokia 108 4G (2024) builds on the older Nokia 105 4G (curr. $34.99 on Amazon) with a larger 2.0-inch display. Additionally, HMD Global equips the device with a 1,450 mAh battery that is said deliver up to 15 days of standby time.
On top of that, the Nokia 108 4G finds itself with 128 MB of RAM and 64 MB of internal storage upon which Snake is installed, but without the camera or LED flash of Nokia 125 4G (2024). Pricing and availability remain unknown at this stage, though.
