Adobe Adds AI To Photoshop And Premiere Elements 2025

It’s that time of year again when Adobe refreshes its Photoshop and Premiere Elements titles. The affordable photo and video editing software costs a fraction of what you’d pay for an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription.

So, what’s new with these two updates and should you upgrade? With these new versions, Adobe has sprinkled the magic of AI plus on the software to provide new automated options that make it easier to fix, fine-tune or turn photos and videos into works of art by resizing, trimming, adding music or including animation.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 2025 now has new photo editing features including the ability to remove unwanted objects or to add a depth-of-field blur using new AI technology. Other new features unleashed by AI include automatically changing colors, combining photos and plenty more.

Other new features worth mentioning include a brush that simply removes unwanted objects in photos. You can make anything disappear in seconds by using the new AI-powered Remove tool and the Object Removal Guided Edit.

If you want to add a realistic bokeh effect to a photo for a shallow depth of field effect, Photoshop Elements now offers precise control by choosing a focal point and then letting the AI-powered Depth Blur filter automatically create blur where it’s needed. Details like blur strength, focal distance and focal range can be tweaked to create the perfect finish.

With new features comes the need to learn new skills to get the most from the new tools. Adobe has added a selection of Guided Edits that take the user through all the steps needed when making essential edits, creating unique images or adding fun effects. Photos can be embellished by adding modern textures and graphics while videos can be more creative by adding titles, effects, transitions and other tools.

The colors of any object in a photo can be altered using automatic selection tools that let the user choose the colors they want to change. Simply choose a new color, refine the hue and other settings, before applying the changes to an object.

Motion effects can now be applied with four new Quick Actions. With a single click, it’s possible to create a sense of camera motion or add animated sparkles, a blinking heart, or an animated frame to an image.

For adding a more modern look to photos, textures and graphics can be added with textured photo backgrounds while creations, social images and more can be embellished with fun graphics.

Another new feature is the ability to combine multiple images into a single photo by blending the subject from one image onto the background of another or by adding elements from other photos to create something completely different.

With Premiere Elements 2025, videos can be edited more quickly thanks to a new and simplified timeline. It’s now possible to see video tracks grouped as well as audio tracks, making them easier to navigate. Editing tools can be quickly located using the new Quick Tools menu, while individual tracks can be locked to prevent accidental edits.

New video editing features have been included such as adding eye-catching titles with custom text styling. Videos can have colors corrected or transformed with presets. Dynamic video titles now have more text controls. There’s a choice of eye-catching templates and text that can be styled to match a story using controls for alignment, size, direction, color and spacing.

On videos where the colors don’t look quite right, users can now ensure clouds, snow and other white objects appear without a color cast by using the new White Balance tool. Precise color and brightness adjustments can be made to a scene or even specific areas using the new color correction Curves.

Videos can even have their overall footage color adjusted using LUTs. With Adobe Premiere Elements 2025, it’s possible to change the mood of an entire scene by creating a new mood or transforming the color scheme using presets. It’s also possible to import custom settings.

To get the creative juices going, the new Premiere Elements comes with access to free Adobe Stock video title templates. Users can select from free and professionally designed templates directly from within Premiere Elements.

The overall experience when using Premiere Elements is now smoother. Videos can also be exported to multiple destinations with a single click. Footage can be imported and clips navigated using the new media browser built into the software. Keyboard shortcuts can also be searched for to speed up the whole workflow.

As well as the standalone Elements packages, Adobe has also improved the web companion apps which are currently in beta. The browser versions can now be used to add moving overlays, change backgrounds automatically and adjust the look of a photo before sharing to social media with QR codes and more.

A new edit and create function with photos in the mobile companion app offers fun and patterned overlays. There are sliders for adjusting light, color and effects. Images can also be cropped and straightened in the browser, while backgrounds can be removed using the one-click Quick Actions.

Finally, Apple Mac users will be delighted to hear that the latest versions of Photoshop and Premiere Elements now have Apple M3 chip support. Full support for the new Apple silicon brings even faster performance when running on Macs.
