Study shows that most Brazilians are suspicious of data privacy and security
A new report points out that the majority of Brazilians are changing their behavior due to suspicions related to possible spying carried out through cell phones. Many people, for example, are no longer answering calls from unknown numbers.
According to a survey carried out by Sherlock Communications, 69% of Brazilians believe that their cell phones are listening to their conversations.
According to the survey, 42% of respondents fear being tracked via cell phone or other device.
While 76% believe that companies sell their data without their consent.
Only 32% of respondents said they felt protected by Brazilian data protection laws.
The report confirms that there is great distrust regarding data privacy and security.
Almost 3,500 people were interviewed in Latin America, 859 of them in Brazil.
Changes in the behavior of Brazilians...The study also concluded that unwanted telemarketing calls and attempted scams changed the behavior of Brazilians. More than half (55%) of respondents said they no longer answer calls from unknown numbers.
The work also showed that 26% of Brazilians have already received unsolicited offers of services via text messages; 24% suffered an attempted scam with someone trying to impersonate a bank attendant; and 66% say it is very difficult to distinguish between a human and a virtual attendant.
The Sherlock Communications survey also highlights that, by failing to answer calls, 28% of Brazilians have already missed important calls and 10% have had a disagreement with friends or family as a result.
