INTEL
Brand is officially changing the names of the processors, marking the premium models as Ultra
The iconic marking of processors from Intel will undergo changes. The letter “i” will be dropped from the name, and the numerical designation of individual models will also be adjusted. Premium variants will be distinguished by the moniker Ultra.
We know from earlier leaks that Intel intends to change the nomenclature processors, which is now confirmed in the company’s official presentations. The numbers of the individual series remain, so we will still buy Intel Core 3, 5, 7 and 9. But the letter “i” in front of the number will disappear. The premium versions of the processors will be labeled Ultra, while this word is not found in the lowest Core 3 series. Specifically, Ultra will be placed before the number, so for example the Intel Core Ultra 7 1470 will be created. Core 9 processors without the word Ultra have also disappeared from the overview. It is possible that the manufacturer will completely omit this basic line of the most powerful models.
Intel will also adjust the numbering of the models. Specifically, it will be four digits, while the final numbering is not yet known. After all, we still don’t know what exactly Intel means by the term premium series. Will it be the rebranded “K” or “KS” versions of the processors?
But one thing is certain. The new nomenclature will soon come into effect with the launch of the Meteor Lake series. That is, in the second half of this year.
