TECH

whatsapp hand double

WhatsApp finally really works on two smartphones at the same time

WhatsApp can now be used on multiple smartphones at the same time. Beta users can now get started with the new feature. We’ll show you how it works and tell you why it’s a welcome feature.

Apps on multiple devices now available...WhatsApp is the most popular chat app in the Netherlands and Meta – the company behind the app – often expands the service with new functions. You can now send messages to yourself, respond with emoji and create a poll. These features are usually released to beta testers of the app first.

Beta testers are users who are allowed to test new features early on. In addition, functions may not yet work optimally, but Meta will further optimize the function with feedback from the user. After that, the feature will be released to the general public. So is the possibility to use WhatsApp on multiple smartphones at the same time.

This way, you can use WhatsApp on multiple smartphones

Are you a beta user and do you like this option? Then we’ll show you how to use the new feature.

-Download WhatsApp from the Play Store on your second smartphone;

-Open the app and click through until the app asks you to enter your number;

-Click on the three dots at the top right and press ‘Pair a device’;

-Grab your first phone with WhatsApp and open the app;

-Go to the settings and find ‘Paired devices’.

-Select ‘Buy a device’ and scan the qr code on your second smartphone.

Your messages will now be loaded and you are ready to text as usual. You simply receive notifications, make (video) calls and send photos directly in the app. You can link up to four devices to WhatsApp. The function currently only works on Android smartphones, but iPhone users can also connect an Android device.

That’s why the feature is so useful. On the Android Planeteditors we like to keep an eye on both Android and Apple news and features. Some editors therefore change smartphones every now and then. Unfortunately, transferring WhatsApp is a disadvantage, since it is not very simple and takes a relatively long time. This new feature makes switching between iPhone and Android a lot easier.

Using WhatsApp on other devices was possible through the WhatsApp Web page, or app on your laptop. Last year we showed how you can also use WhatsApp Web to app on two smartphones at the same time, but that is no longer necessary after this update.
