SAMSUNG

Samsung is preparing the return of its “Fan Edition” series. A Galaxy S23 FE should see the light of day before the end of the year and the manufacturer would reserve a surprise. Not sure if this is what you expected.
Will it come out or not? There have been many conflicting rumors regarding the Galaxy S23 FE in recent months. Disappeared from the radar in 2022, the “Fan Edition” series would make its big comeback in 2023 and it finally seems to be becoming clearer. Samsung should release a new affordable flagship before the end of the year, and new information is emerging.
The South Korean manufacturer made a strong choice this year by abandoning the Exynos chips on its Galaxy S23. The brand’s latest premium smartphones all use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips, even offering a “for Galaxy” variant. Special attention that the future Galaxy S23 FE should not benefit from. According to information from SamMobile, the new model will ship an Exynos 2200 chip in all markets. This decision would concern both Europe – and therefore France – and the United States.
Bye-bye Snapdragon, bonjour Exynos...This SoC is not unknown in our region and was already used last year in the Galaxy S22. The first chip from the South Korean giant to have an AMD GPU, the Exynos 2200 has not left lasting memories precisely because of its graphics. This is also probably the reason why Samsung preferred to turn exclusively to Qualcomm for the S23 series. When the S23 FE is released, the Exynos 2200 will be almost two years old and its presence is probably due to a desire to sell off remaining stocks. We can hope for adjustments to allow this smartphone to still be in the race when it is released.
The other interesting good is that the presence of a relatively old chip could help drag prices down. Samsung’s ‘fan’ series has a reputation for being more affordable, although the Galaxy S21 FE disappointed on that front when it was released.
The rest of the configuration would include the presence of a 50-megapixel main sensor. While the S20 FE and S21 FE used the same 12MP module as the S20 and S21, the upcoming Galaxy S23 FE would get the same sensor as the S22 and S23. The new model would add a 4,500 mAh battery, which is the same capacity as its predecessors. Fast charging would still be limited to 25 W, but there is hope that Samsung will offer charging up to 45 W. Finally, the Galaxy S23 FE would offer 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB to 256 GB of storage.
When will it come out?...The Galaxy S23 FE would be marketed during the fourth quarter of 2023, i.e. for the end of the year. It will therefore be necessary to be patient before discovering the one who hopes to experience the same success as the Galaxy S20 FE. However, Samsung should not make the same mistake as with the Galaxy S21 FE by launching its “Fan Edition” model too late. It also remains to know the price of this new model which could work on the flowerbeds of Pixel 7a and iPhone SE. Like Samsung, Google or Apple do not hesitate to offer more accessible versions of their flagship models.
