This nifty Google Pixel feature is a little better from now on
Your smartphone uses your battery smartly, so that it lasts as long as possible. On Google Pixel smartphones, a battery feature has been improved and made easier to find. Read about it here.
Pixel smartphone charges just before you wake up...Smartphones – including Google’s Pixel devices – can have adapted charging. That means your phone will charge up to 80 percent overnight. It only charges to 100 percent just before you wake up, because that’s better for the battery. Based on your set alarm clock, the smartphone knows when it needs to charge further.
Google has now adjusted the functionality, it reports 9to5Google. The adjusted charging is no longer based only on your alarm clock, but now also on your smartphone use. Based on your screen time, your smartphone knows when you are likely to wake up. Before then, ‘Adapted charging’ ensures a full battery, so you can start the day well.
To make sure you wake up with a full battery, the Pixel smartphone shows a notification with the time when your smartphone is full. Are you planning to get up earlier the next day?
Then you can easily switch off custom charging once via the same notification. If you go to sleep between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. and you have an alarm set between 3 a.m. and 10 a.m., Pixel phones will keep that alarm on.
Why is this better for the battery?...Smartphones charge adapted for a reason, which is to maintain maximum battery capacity. You have probably noticed that your smartphone battery deteriorates over time. After daily charging and discharging, the battery stores less and less energy.
This degradation is worst between 0 and 20 percent and 80 and 100 percent battery. To prevent your smartphone from being at 100 percent all night (and therefore wearing out faster), keep your smartphone at 80 percent for as long as possible. So pay close attention to the message about adjusted charging before going to sleep. This way you have a full battery in the morning, which also lasts longer.
Android monitors the state of your battery in various ways and at Android Planet we write about it more often. For example, we discuss whether fast charging is really bad for your smartphone battery, we give tips on getting the most out of your battery and we show you what to do if the battery of your smartphone swells.
