Tensor G3 stands out as the chipset expected to be used in Google’s upcoming flagship phones Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. It is said that the G3 will move away from the Mali GPU, and may have an Xclipse graphics unit jointly developed by Samsung and AMD.
We also expect the Tensor G3 to have more cores than the G2. The Google Tensor G3 will have Cortex-X3 running at 3.09 GHz, as opposed to the Cortex-X4 core that will be used in the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Cortex X3 will be accompanied by four Cortex-A715 performance cores running at 2.65GHz and Cortex-A510 power saving core running at 2.10GHz. The biggest difference on the GPU side will be the Xclipse 930, which is jointly developed by Samsung and AMD.
Even if the Xclipse 930 surpasses Mali GPUs in performance, we think that this performance will be sufficient considering that Google does not prioritize raw performance compared to chipsets of Qualcomm, MediaTek and Apple. So what do you think about the Google Tensor G3?
