Comapny has officially confirmed that the atomic Xeon will only have 144 cores

Intel originally had two options. Up to 344 core built on four 86-core tiles (plus two communication) and up to 528 core built on four 132-core tiles (plus two communication). It would probably be chosen based on what the market situation would look like and what the process and encapsulating factories would handle.

However, it didn’t take long and rumors began to spread that one of the important customers gave Intel a knife to the throat and two options: Either it will keep to the timetable and realistically deliver at least a 144-core configuration in the first half of 2024, or the customer ends with Intel and switches to AMD. The gossip brought by the MLID YouTube channel has now been de facto officially confirmed by Intel when it announced that Sierra Forest plans to release in the first half of 2024 in a 144-core configuration:

In the meantime, information leaked about the platform, which, according to Intel’s materials, has up to 500W TDP. On the other hand, according to other leaked Intel materials, there are supposed to be two versions of the platform, one with the LGA4677 socket and supporting 350W TDP, and the other with the larger LGA7529 socket supporting 500W TDP. From the available information, it is not clear for which variant the “reduced” 144-core Sierra Forest will be intended (on the other hand, it would be surprising if it required a 500W TDP).

Sierra Forest he talks about as the main product for the production links of the Intel 3 process. This is interesting because until recently he mentioned the Xeon with large cores as the key product of the Intel 3 process, Granite Rapids. Whether the production Granite Rapids is moving to TSMC or this processor is being shelved or for some reason will be produced in less than Sierra Forest, the available materials do not specify. But apparently there has been some change.
