Apple TV+ may have cheaper signature, but with ads
Apple has clearly tried to expand its ad network for some time, increasing the amount of advertising in its applications and services. A new report from The Information suggests that this process will also extend to Apple TV+.
According to Sources from The Information, Apple hired TV expert Lauren Fry to lead ads on Apple TV+. They will probably be initially displayed only during sporting events broadcast through this service, such as soccer games and baseball. Apple has already displayed ads during MLB broadcasts, but they were operated and sold by the organizers of this event. Now, the company wants to deal with the sale and display directly to have full control over them and increase the profits of Apple TV+.
There is also the possibility that in the future Apple TV+ follow the steps of other popular vod services and present a cheaper (or even free) subscription variant with ads displayed before or during the screening of movies and series. Netflix, Disney+ and HBO Max have recently decided to make this change.
Remember that in October last year, Apple increased the number of ads in the App Store. The company is also testing ads on Maps app search results and can later present them also in book and podcast apps.
