Sony Xperia 1 V: the brand's unprecedented gadget will probably be very similar to its predecessor
The first renders of the Sony Xperia 1 V have surfaced online. The new flagship smartphone is likely to be very similar to its predecessor, just with a few minor tweaks.
Sony is an odd bird in smartphone land. While other brands do everything to make the edges of their phones as thin as possible, the Japanese company has maintained resistant 'frames' below and above the screen for years. This sounds old-fashioned, but it also has advantages. For example, the selfie camera doesn't need to be placed in a hole. So you enjoy uninterrupted viewing.
These changes will likely be applied to the Xperia flagship device in 2023. These renders were done by trusted insider OnLeaks and will likely give a good picture of the device.
Compared to its predecessor, the Sony Xperia 1 IV, we hardly see any differences. The 6.5-inch OLED screen again has a high 4K resolution and, as mentioned, quite thick bezels. This time the flash on the back is on the camera island rather than above it. Sony is likely omitting the Time of Flight sensor, which is meant to collect depth information. We do not regret this, as it adds little in practice.
The fingerprint reader is on the power button and not under the screen like most competitors. It's really nice that Sony still offers a headphone connection. This is now rare in the upper segment.
High end specs...Green Smartphones also shares top specs. The device probably runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. This is the fastest processor right now. We know it from the OnePlus 11 and the Samsung Galaxy S23, among others. Sony would add no less than 16GB of RAM to this. The battery is believed to have a capacity of 5,000 mAh.
