South Korean giant placed orders with LG Display and Samsung for OLED panels for the 2024 iPad Pro
After obtaining all the necessary A17 Bionic chips to start mass production of the iPhone 15 line, now Apple has decided to place orders for OLED screens for its future generations of iPad Pro. The company asked LG Display and Samsung to develop 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch panels.
The news brings us a very interesting curiosity, and it indicates that Apple has excluded BOE from the equation. From BOE, they planned to build a new facility to produce OLED panels for Apple. There are several rumors that BOE was included in the production of OLED panels for the company, but that now it has finally decided to opt for Samsung and LG.
“Apple has already submitted orders for the development of 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch panels for the iPad with Samsung Display and LG Display. BOE has been excluded.”
Korean display makers plan to produce the OLED panels on their sixth generation production line the 1,500 mm x 1850 mm.
Another source suggests that Apple plans to develop iPad Pro models with 11.1 and 13-inch OLED screens. We do not know what the differences in screen dimensions in the two theories are due to, perhaps it could be a communication error related to the actual dimensions of the device and not the screen.
Apple currently offers an 11-inch iPad Pro and a 12.9-inch iPad Pro with LCD and mini-LED technology, respectively. Other rumors claim that the company will introduce OLED technology in its future MacBooks and micro-LED screens in the Apple Watch in 2024.
