FIFA 23 | Review

FIFA 23 was the best selling video game in Europe 2022

Real Madrid won the Champions League, Argentina became world champions – and “FIFA 23” was the best performing video game of 2022. This is demonstrated by a special evaluation by GfK Entertainment.

The football simulation “FIFA 23” not only topped the annual charts for pan-European games, it was also the best-selling title in all 19 countries examined. The latest installment in the series beats action RPG Pokémon Legends Arceus and racer fun Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the top 3 in nine and eight regions, respectively.

The sports game “Nintendo Switch Sports” also showed excellent form in 2022, taking the podium in five different countries (Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Austria, Spain). “Horizon Forbidden West” (Sweden, Slovakia, Czech Republic), “Gran Turismo 7” (Portugal, Slovakia, Czech Republic), “FIFA 22” (Poland, Slovenia, Hungary), “God of War Ragnarök” (Denmark, Hungary ) and Farming Simulator 22 (Poland, Slovenia).

In the annual German gaming charts, which were determined separately and broken down by platform, “FIFA 23” achieves triple PS5PS4 and Xbox One. The silver medal goes to “Horizon Forbidden West” (PS5, PS4) and “FIFA 22” (Xbox One). "Elden Ring" and "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II" clean up the list of Xbox Series hits, while "Farming Simulator 22" and "The Sims 4" dominate the PC rating. The most popular Nintendo Switch productions are “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” and “Nintendo Switch Sports”; on 3DS, Pokémon Ultramond wins, followed by Fire Emblem Warriors.

The 2022 European Games annual charts are based on physical sales data from the following countries: Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland, Sweden, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Czech Republic and Hungary.
