Galaxy S22 FE: an inexpensive Galaxy that will arrive together with the Galaxy S23
The presentation of the Galaxy S23 is scheduled for the 1st of February, the date on which a new event “Unpacked”, a classic by the South Korean giant, will take place. Thanks to the numerous leaks that have been produced, we are quite clear about what we can expect from the said event, but today a new and interesting rumor has appeared that points to the Galaxy S22 FE and which says that the said gadget could also be presented on February 1st.
Is this information credible, does it make sense to launch a Galaxy S22 FE in February? Well, the truth is that yes, although a priori it may seem that it is not, in fact the Galaxy S21 FE was presented on January 7, 2022, just one month before the presentation of the Galaxy S22 family. With this background on the table, it is clear that this rumor has not said anything crazy, quite the contrary, since this terminal would make a lot of sense if it were considered an “economical” Galaxy, in quotes because in the end we are talking about a smartphone state-of-the-art.
What would the Galaxy S22 FE look like? Well, most likely, it will maintain the approach that we saw with the Galaxy S21 FE, which means that certain concessions in the quality of the finishes will reduce the price, and that it would maintain a level of specifications similar to that of the Galaxy S22, although it ends up being a little more low.
The first change would be, as we said, in the build quality, and is that the said model could be built with an aluminum frame and a plastic back layer instead of the glass layer that the Galaxy S22 brings. This was precisely the approach taken by the South Korean giant with the Galaxy S21 FE.
Secondly, the Galaxy S22 FE would fit as a high-end terminal, but it would be below the Galaxy S22 in raw power, as it will use cheaper components to lower the selling price. Among the most important changes in this regard, I highlight the use of a Snapdragon 8 Gen1 SoC, the same chip that builds the Galaxy S22, but this would come with 6 GB of RAM instead of 8 GB. A reduction in its photographic capabilities compared to the Galaxy S22 FE would also make sense.
The rest of the keys that made the Galaxy S22 great should be present, which means that the Galaxy S22 FE will have a Dynamic AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and that it will keep the configuration of 128 GB of storage capacity. We don't have details on the sale price, but it will most likely hit the market with an approximate price of 749 euros in its configuration with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage capacity.
