AMD

AMD está preparando processadores móveis Ryzen 7000 com núcleos pequenos

New Ryzen 7000 line processors will have physically smaller core architecture

In early January, AMD introduced several different Ryzen 7000 mobile processors, including the latest Phenix Point (Ryzen 7040HS).

Judging by the latest data, this year, within the same line, other APUs will be released with a rather unusual configuration for AMD.

In the second half of this year, AMD should launch some processors, currently listed as PHX2 (Phenix Point 2?). While current models (PHX) have up to eight Zen 4 cores and up to 768 stream processors with RDNA 3 architecture, the PHX2 in the maximum configuration will offer two Zen 4 cores, four Zen 4c cores and a GPU with 256 stream processors. The TDP will decrease from 15-35+W on the current line to 15-28+W.

The most interesting thing here is the same Zen 4c cores, which AMD has not yet officially announced. The company mentioned them, saying that this is not a separate architecture, but the same Zen 4, but changed so that the cores are physically smaller. Previously, there were reports of a reduced amount of cache memory. Zen 4c cores will be used in 128-core Epyc Bergamo server CPUs, which have been known for a long time, but we've never heard of the mobile Ryzen 7000 in this context before.

In addition, PHX2e models may also be released, in which, perhaps, all cores are Zen 4c and the TDP is equal to 9 W. Thus, although AMD has so far only presented high-performance Ryzen 7000 APUs with the CPUs and Newer GPUs, more energy-efficient processors are expected to join them later this year.

The information was shared by two insiders: Kepler, who has already shared data on past generations of Ryzen, and All the Watts, who accurately described the newly launched Ryzen 7000 before its presentation.
