AWS Supply Chain: the company's new service that manages the supply chain of companies
Based on several years of e-commerce experience, the company introduced its new AWS Supply Chain service, which aims to help companies manage their supply chain and make it easier to monitor the status of their inventories. As per the company's description, the cloud-based application uses machine learning algorithms to help customers see weaknesses and risks in their supply chain, as well as help with cost reduction and quick decision making during unexpected problems.
The service can extract your organization's supply chain data from SAP, EDI, or other enterprise resource planning systems such as warehouses or order management sources. After that, it automatically creates a data lake with the help of AI models developed for the extraction and unification of different data, and then visualizes individual points of the organization's supply chain in the form of a real-time map, providing information about the context, which can be accessed by other managers in the organization.
AWS Supply Chain also makes automatic recommendations to resolve specific issues, such as moving inventory between locations, taking into account the distance between facilities and the impact on sustainability.
In recent years, Amazon has significantly expanded its advertising business as a result of the launch of AWS Clean Room, a privacy-focused service that allows companies to customize ads for their customers with a greater focus on privacy.
The new services are part of Amazon's long-term strategy, whereby the functions developed by the e-commerce branch reach other companies in the form of services. With this, it will compete with market products such as Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management.
AWS Supply Chain uses a consumption-based pricing model: $0.28 per hour for the first 10 GB of storage and service, then an additional $0.25 per gigabyte per month as you go beyond that . For now, the preview is available in the East (N. Virginia) and West US regions, as well as in Frankfurt, Europe.
According to market research firm Gartner, supply chain management (SCM) is currently the fastest growing market in the enterprise application software segment, which can generate a total of $20.24 billion in sales until 2022.
