Hong Kong company MangDang announced the Mini Pupper 2 robot dog - the second-generation machine aimed at developers is equipped with a platform for installing additional lidar and 3D cameras, and the robot's carrying capacity has increased from 150 to 200 grams.

The Mini Pupper 2 robotic dog runs on the Pi Compute Module 4 or Raspberry Pi 4B platform, supports Ubuntu and ROS1 systems, and promises ROS2 compatibility in the near future. An LCD display is installed on the front of the robot, which, compared to the first version of the machine, has become touch-sensitive. There is also a microphone and speaker. It is possible to control the robot from a mobile application.

The robot's relatively high maneuverability is provided by limbs with 12 degrees of freedom. Each leg has an individual microcontroller responsible for three servos. The Pro version of the Mini Pupper 2 offers position, speed and torque feedback on the servos; in the basic version - only by position. There's a 1000mAh battery on board, but there's also a port for connecting an external power supply.

To support the project, the developer of Mini Pupper 2 has launched a Kickstarter fundraiser, offering a $299 upgrade kit for the first generation of the robot and a completely new machine that will cost $429 for the original version. base on the minimum package at $649 for the pre-built Pro version with the maximum gear set. The first deliveries of the robots are scheduled for February 2023.
