Unreleased model 12 Lite 5G NE is seen in the IMEI database

Last year, Xiaomi made a controversial move by releasing two nearly identical smartphones with very similar designations - Mi 11 Lite 5G and Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE. This year, the situation could repeat itself, but only in terms of names: in addition to (or replacing) the usual Xiaomi 12 Lite, the company is preparing the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE, but there will be more differences in the characteristics of these models.

The Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE would have been seen in the IMEI database with part number 2210129SG. The G at the end is short for Global: this is a model for the global market, not China. That is, he will appear with us. But what is this model?

There is speculation that the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE is the Chinese Civi 2. In this case, it will have much more differences from the regular Xiaomi 12 Lite than the Mi 11 Lite 5G compared to the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE.

So the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE will be based on a much newer Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 platform (the regular Lite is based on the Snapdragon 778G), the resolution of the main sensor will be 50 megapixels (instead of 108 megapixels), and the module with ultra wide-angle lens will have a 20 megapixel sensor instead of 8 megapixel. Finally, the battery capacity of the Civi 2 (Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE) is also slightly higher - 4500 mAh versus 4300 mAh.

Interestingly, in September, the promising Xiaomi branded 2210129SG has already appeared in the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) database, so the debut of the device should indeed take place soon. According to the FCC, the phone will have three memory configurations: 6/128, 8/128 and 8/256 GB.
