The NXTWEAR G virtual display was first shown at Mobile World Congress last year. It was a special glasses that formed a huge 140-inch virtual screen in 16:9 format in front of the wearer's eyes at a distance of about 4 meters. Now, TCL has made several improvements to its design and has released funding for a new model on Kickstarter. The screen can be used for watching movies, as a computer monitor or as a gaming area.
The updated device consists of 93-gram glasses, reminiscent of classic sunglasses, and a data drive connected to them with a USB-C cable. Instead of lenses, they are equipped with two 1080p Micro OLED screens. User can enjoy 2D or 3D graphics in 1920 x 1080 or 3840 x 1080 respectively. The virtual display has 47 degree viewing angles and supports at least 90% of the DCI-P3 cinematic color gamut. In this case, the image shift frequency is 60 Hz.
The package only includes one pair of glasses. However, for an additional fee, you can order two more pairs to play with friends. It is important that the device has received the TÜV Rheinland certification, which indicates a low level of blue light harmful to the eyes. You can connect the gadget to various Android or Windows devices. An adapter for iOS devices is required. The manufacturer declares the possibility of wireless connection via Bluetooth protocol.
The company plans to start selling this certainly interesting solution at a price of $569 per set in December. But investors through a Kickstarter campaign will be able to buy it for a discounted price of $449. The NXTWEAR is suitable for those who don't have a lot of space at home or those who want to organize viewing on the street.
